Hello and welcome to the home of Word of the Week. A nice and simple weekly linky, with everyone welcome to pop by and share. My word this week is ‘sleepless’ and you can read more about that below.

MY WORD OF THE WEEK – Sleeplesss
Last week was a little crazy and this week has been hectic, with a distinct lack of sleep. I can’t exactly say it’s been totally sleepless but I’ll explain more.
Monday saw more problems at Boo’s school. Not during school hours but shortly after the end of the school day there was a major incident where a pupil was seriously attacked and ended up in hospital. He is just 13 years old and the younger brother of Boo’s friend. I don’t want to go into too much detail as there has been a lot of gossip and incorrect information about the incident, some of it given out by the school itself. But my thoughts go out to the poor young boy and I hope he makes a full recovery. The attackers have been apprehended and I hope justice is served.
The whole incident caused me a lot of worry, I had parents contacting me and heard lots of gossip, but I had to try and block it out in the end. I had a sleepless night, not being able to get the incident out of my head. Not only was I worried about the little lad, it also brought back a lot of bad memories. I’m so glad I didn’t send my Little Man back to that school.
It’s been hospital treatment week this week and it went pretty well. I don’t seem to have any side effects yet, but they have been known to appear a little later. With not getting any sleep Monday night I did sleep during my treatment on Tuesday. I did plan on listening to my audio book, but I just reclined my chair and slept. I just hope I didn’t snore!
On Tuesday evening Star had another flare up of her IBD, she tries so hard to take care of it herself but she is in a lot of pain, and mess, and only Mum can help. So, I had little sleep again on Tuesday.
I was actually looking forward to going to hospital on Wednesday, I told the nurse I’d had a sleepless night so I don’t think she was surprised that I slept through most of my treatment. I didn’t even hear my infusion bleeping at one point, I woke up and noticed the bottle had been changed. Again, I hope I didn’t snore, but by this point I was past caring. I felt less worn out when I got home so maybe that’s the way I should do my treatment in the future. Forget trying to entertain myself for the four hours that I’m there and just sleep instead?
Then Wednesday night, Star was feeling well enough to look after herself, so I had an early night. When Graham finally came to bed about 3am. I had a massive spasm in my leg, Graham was panicked because he thought my foot was dislocated. Even after all this time I can surprise him with my condition. I wasn’t worried, I’ve seen my feet do crazy things many times. Yes, it hurts, but it always seems to right itself. I can crack bones and cause myself bruising during a spasm, it’s a condition I wouldn’t wish on anyone. After, Graham managed to move me into a sitting position, the change of blood flow seemed to settle the spasm. I took some extra medication which helped me get back to sleep, but I didn’t want to get up when the alarm went off a couple of hours later.

Oh my goodness, that poor lad at Boo’s school. What an awful thing to happen. I hope that he makes a full recovery. Not surprised you had a sleepless night after that and thank goodness you didn’t send Little Man back to that school. I hope Boo and her friend are okay. Poor Star with her IBS flare up. Hope she is feeling better. Sounds like it was a good week for you to have your treatment and catch up on the sleep while you were in the hospital. Sorry to hear that you had a massive spasm although I’m glad that it settled down when Graham moved you into a sitting position. Hope that your weekend is less eventful and you’re able to rest a bit more. #WotW
That poor boy. Not helped by gossip either I hope whoever did it gets properly dealt with and not just a slap on the wrist. Poor Star as well, they always want Mum when they aren’t well. I’m glad you got some sleep during your treatment, I guess at least you know you won’t be disturbed there!
The drama at Boo’s school sounds terrifying. That poor boy, I hope he makes a full recovery. No wonder you had a sleepless night.

Poor Star, I am glad she was well enough to look after herself later in the week. The spasm does not sound like fun at all but it sounds like you handled it better than Graham. I hope you can catch up on some sleep over the weekend. x
What a terrible thing to happen to that poor boy at school and I hope that he is ok. Sorry to hear that Star had a flare-up. It’s good that you were able to get some sleep at the hospital to make up for all the lost sleep. Fingers crossed that you continue to have no side effects from your treatment.
That is awful. I can’t imagine how his family are feeling. I hope he makes a swift recovery and is given all the help he needs. I’m not surprised that your community are feeling it. Good for you catching up on your sleep during treatment. I’m sure the nurses taking care of you were happy to see you sleep. Snoring or not! I’m sorry Star is having a bad time. And you too. That must still be frightening for you both, although you seem to handle it with such composure. Hope this next week is one that doesn’t keep you up at night.
I dread to think about what happened at Boos’s school. There have been some terrible news reports of things lately. I feel for you with sleepless nights. We have had a few of those lately. I’m no good on little sleep. Darren has mastered it over the years with Ethan’s lack of needing sleep. I hope both you and Star are OK? #WotW
