How Lash Glue Bonds
Cyanoacrylate adhesives work through a process called anionic polymerisation. When the glue encounters natural moisture on your lashes or the surrounding air, cyanoacrylate molecules rapidly link together, creating long chains or polymers. This reaction forms a solid, durable bond, adhering the extension to the natural lash.
This process is sensitive to environmental factors, influencing the bonding process’s speed and effectiveness.
Humidity plays a significant role in how fast lash glue dries. A relative humidity of 55-65% is optimal because if it’s too high, the glue cures too quickly, potentially leading to a weak bond. Conversely, low humidity slows the curing process, making the glue take longer to set, affecting application precision.
Lash adhesives perform best between 20-24°C. Higher temperatures accelerate the curing process, while colder temperatures can cause the adhesive to thicken, making application challenging.
Proper application is also critical to ensuring a strong, lasting bond. A precise amount of glue must be applied to the extension without overwhelming the natural lash, as too much adhesive can lead to clumping or premature fall-out.

Not all lash adhesives are created equal. Formulas vary to suit different lash types, client sensitivities, and environmental conditions.
