When my kids were younger I loved the Autumn half term holiday. It was cheaper to go away to the sea side, yes, it was colder too, but we did it many times. But not only that we found lots of ways to find adventure before it got too cold.
One of my favourite posts on my blog, which goes way back to 2013 was when we had a walk in the local park. We had just moved here and we decided to walk down to the local park and have a look around. We really enjoyed the day. The kids found all kinds of leaves, conkers and other Autumnal gifts from nature. They scrunched through the leaves and we loved all the wonderful colours. We had an adventure in the park playground which the kids loved. And even the walk home was fun with so much to see. My favourite photo of the day has to be me with little ones when I was fit and able. Finding adventure on our doorstep was amazing.
Adventure in Autumn Now
The kids are no longer excited about trips out, the park is a definite no no, the only kids their age go there to smoke their vapes and flirt with each other.
Boo had an adventure yesterday going out with her friends. They all met up and caught the bus to go into a town nearby where they have a cat café. They love going there and they love all the shops and spending time together. There is also a dog café but they prefer the cats. I have been to the dog café and even as a cat person myself I quite enjoyed the friendliness of the little dogs.
And tomorrow I’m going on an adventure with eldest daughter. She’s always been a huge Disney fan (yes she’s been to Disneyland Paris twice and Disney World) and tomorrow we are going to see Disney On Ice. The last time we went was in 2012! I think we will probably be the oldest people there without little ones but it’s still going to be fun. Maybe the ice is a little more wintery than Autumn, but knowing the British weather you never know. I even have a video of a weird snow storm we had in September a few years back. It didn’t last, but it definitely happened!
Apart from that the most adventure I will be having this Autumn is a visit with my consultant, finishing my very first crochet poncho, watching some good television and reading books. Who says that adventure needs to be exciting?
I really miss my children being little 🙁
Blogtober 2024 is nearly over. If I’m honest, I think Blogtober is over. Not many people blog now and not many join in, but it’s something I’ve done for many years and I may just even set my own challenge next year. Thanks for reading. One post to go (which I’ll schedule because I’ll be busy watching Disney tomorrow.)

We used to love going to the park but even my girls don’t bother now as it’s full of people just looking for trouble and doing things that they shouldn’t.
Oh wow! Have a fab time at Disney On Ice!! I’ve only been once, when we won tickets years ago and we loved it! Disney is one of those things which has no age limit. x
I can guarantee you won’t be the only people at Disney on Ice without little ones, I see more adults enjoying Disney nowadays than kids. You have some lovely memories of Autumn with the kids. It’s my favourite time of the year to get out and explore but I also like adventures at home too they can be just as exciting.
