Hello and welcome to the home of Word of the Week. A nice and simple weekly linky, with everyone welcome to pop by and share. The idea of the linky is to reflect back on your past week and share it with us. It’s great if you can sum it up in a word or phrase, hence giving us your Word of the Week. My word this week is ‘Rainy Days’ and you can read more about that below.
PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING IF YOU WISH TO LINK UP! FROM NOW ON, THOSE NOT FOLLOWING THE RULES WILL BE DELETED.
I’m not totally strict on using just a word or phrase. But please try to stick to the theme of summing up your week. There are not too many rules with this linky, just remember to read at least another couple of posts in the link up after adding your link. And please only add one post to the link up each week, multiple posts will be deleted. I will read and comment on all posts and tweet them out for you. I also have a Pinterest board devoted to Word of the Week. Please add the badge below to your post so that others may find us and join in. If you comment or tweet then please use the hashtag #WotW
Word of the Week is open from 6am on Friday Morning to 12 noon on Monday. Plenty of time to join in!
If you like to write bookish posts don’t forget my link up on my other blog At Home A Lot, Bookworms Monthly.
If you are unfamiliar with the Word of the Week linky then please feel free to ask any questions. New linkers are always welcome, we love to hear what you have been up to in the past week.
MY WORD OF THE WEEK – Rainy Days
Today’s prompt for blogtober is: The Unsung Beauty of a Rainy October Day: Write a sensory-focused piece celebrating the subtle beauty in dreary, rainy days. Hence my phrase, rather than word, of the week is Rainy Days
Now, how to turn rainy days into something positive? Honestly, I used to love rainy days so much, the feel of rain on my skin, getting wet, splashing in puddles with the kids, rushing for cover in a sudden downpour. A lot of the things that people hate about rain I loved.
It’s different now, I can’t even go out in the rain, but I’m working on that, I’ve been researching rain covers for my wheelchair. Forget my pride, I’ll be able to go out in the rain!
The other day I had to take some recycling out. The bin is about two feet from the front door so I can reach it. I don’t go out if it’s raining but it was only a shower and I wanted to feel the rain. So, I took the recycling out and even lifted my face up to the sky. Most people don’t know what it’s like to miss something so simple, something most people do their best to avoid.
Then on Wednesday I went to book club. Graham had to take me, he can park the car right outside the door (even though it’s a restricted access street.) But he has to drive off again afterwards, so I wouldn’t be able to park there. When I get my car to myself I might have to give up book club 🙁 Anyway, it was raining quite bad and even though I was only outside for a short while was getting very wet. There was no protection for my chair, and I had to wait for Graham to get the ramp and set it up so I could get inside. (another reason why book club won’t last much longer.) I have to admit, I didn’t like that rain so much.
When we went on holiday last year we had no car and we had quite a few rainy days. My eldest couldn’t understand why I wouldn’t go out in the rain. That’s why I’m looking into rain covers. When we go next year it’s going to be sunny every day (be positive) but just in case I’m going to pack my covers and we’ll go out whatever the weather. (and I won’t risk my batteries blowing up!)
Other news…I know some come for the catch up! Well, the Little Man is still happy, but the girls are not doing so well. I’m still struggling to get them help but I’ll never give up trying. I just wish I could get Boo to go to college. I think it’s time to arrange a meeting with a them an see where we go from there. It’s like history repeating itself (for the fourth time now…*deep heavy sigh*)
Now it’s over to you, what word or phrase sums up your week this week?
